Winnie the Pooh Watercolour by Nollaig Winnie the Pooh Watercolour by Nollaig
In case you don't know, NEW WINNIE THE POOH MOVIE SUMMER 2011! [link]

Woo, my first ever wholly watercolour styled picture. It's meant to be sort of pencil sketchy/watercolour/storybook-illustrationy. I was originally going to include Tigger in this, but I'm not a massive fan of him, and I didn't want the picture to get too busy, so I decided to stick with just my favourite characters. Anyway, I plan to do plenty more of these, so all the characters will turn up eventually!!

The background is based on a scene from The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh, one of my favourites from my childhood just because it was so pretty.

Done entirely in Jasc Paintshop Pro.

EDIT: Just noticed, Christopher Robin looks utterly stoned out of his tree. I've ruined this picture for myself - now when I look at it all I can picture is him going, 'WHAAAAZZZAAAAAP XP' like in Scary Movie.

Thanks! Owl is actually my favourite in this picture, I love how the murky browns shade the yellows on his wings :)

Wonderful picture! I like how it is more off of "Many Adventures," because it's my favorite Pooh movie. I can't wait for the new one.

As for the "WHAAAZZAAPP" thing you mentioned, I laughed. :)

Hehe thank you! The new film came out here a couple months ago, it was really sweet. Some very funny bits, and done very true to the classic style :)

Whaaaaazzaaappp :XD:

 (The film) has yet to come in the U.S. in a few days. I have heard of it being released in Europe, though. :D And what I've seen of it, the style is very similar to the first movie.

That would be funny and unusual having Christopher Robin just randomly coming up to you for a few seconds saying, "WHAAAAZZZAAAP?" :iconimhappyplz:

It came out here a couple weeks ago! I thought it was July but that's the US release date, for some reason it came out in the UK and Ireland in April! I went to see it like two days after it came out. I throughly enjoyed it, though it was too short at only just over an hour long :(

Awww lucky that you got to see it already! (I am in the US so that is when I will see it.) But that is too bad that it is short... :( Maybe they will make another?

I doubt it to be honest, I don't think cartoons like that really appeal to the current generations of children (hence the success of flash/short cartoons like Powerpuff Girls, Dexter's Lab, the new My Little Pony etc.) If any more get made, they won't be by the main Disney studio, just smaller released (like The Tigger Movie and all those others).

yay you added Piglet! :D well you know my thoughts on this. Did you add some grass texture? And you used a white border!

This is epic.

I thought black was too harsh on something like this.

I dont think I added any grass texture since you saw it, no! I got lazy towards the end. XD

Ohhh that's tough. I don't think I could choose one, but if I had to choose a specific aspect, it would be Pooh Bear and Christopher Robin's friendship. That just made the whole thing so childlike and wonderful.

To be honest, the entire atmosphere of WtP - getting lost in this magical land where there are no grown-ups, no boundaries to your adventures other than the limit of your imagination, and the way it always seemed like this eternal escape from real life, into a place that will always exist in your mind, so long as you want it too.

I really want to go to Ashdown Forest, the place Milne based the books on.

I didn't know that that's where he based Hundred Acre Wood on. That's cool. Yeah, I liked that atmosphere. In a way, it was kind of magical; the way that whatever adventure they would find themselves lost in, they would try to use logic in whatever way made the most sense to them; and throughout the story, they had the magic of imagination and friendship to keep themselves happy. I liked that in Milne, his book was adorable.

Yeah I absolutely love the logic in the books. So funny. 'Is there anybody home?' 'No!' 'No one at all?' 'No, nobody!' 'That's too bad. But, there must be somebody home, because somebody had to have said nobody was home! Is that you, Rabbit?' 'Oh... oh, hello Pooh Bear.'

Hehehehe XD

haha...that part was so cute!...Owl, wise though he was in many ways, able to read and write and spell his own name WOL...somehow went all to pieces over delicate words like "measles" and "buttered toast".

Hahaha Wol. OMG the bit where Piglet gives Owl his house. When I watched that as a kid, it was sad, but when I watch it as an adult it's sad on a whole othe, bizzare level. It's his HOUSE!! Everyone knows it's his house!! How can Owl take it?! Poor Piglet haha.

Winnie the Pooh! :D WtP is one of my fav Disney movies EVAR! [Back-seat driver says its awesome!] I grew up with the Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, so seeing fan art of the 100 Acre Woods gang is a real treat, as I don't see it often!

I grew up with the New Adventures. Man I loved that show so much. I was rewatching it (and Many Adventures) the other day, and since there's a new movie coming out I figured I'd get started on this. I plan to do quite a few more, and I'm considering doing watercolours of the original Shepard illustrations from the books, too.
